Viva Las Vegas!?!?

So this video... well, Brint and I feel an attachment to it. I think we finally figured it out! We have never been to Las Vegas, even though we lived in California and were just a quick plane ride away. I think we knew if we ever went... we would get in a lot of trouble. I mean how can you not with Sigfried & Roy, the chaples of love, Elvis impersonators on every corner... he, he!! So this video shows what would have REALLY happened if WE went to Vegas.

Little pop up video moment... the two guys who welcome them into the casino are the Maloofs, who own the Palms in Vegas. Who also own the Sacramento Kings... what use to be our favorite basketball team, and we attended quite a few games! Also, seen them popping up around Sacramento too!! Ok pause the music below and.. on with the video~

Campin' in the woods

As many of you have, or will have, blogged about our church camp-out. We went to Catawba Falls campground in Old Fort. This was Brint and myself first time camping in North Carolina. We had a lot of fun! Went with great people, sat around the campfire, and my favorite part... playing in the creek. On the last day a bunch of us sat in our camping chairs in the water to keep cool, and chatted while the kids slid down the sliding rock into the creek "pool". Brint and Troy played a game of man ball, where they started to throw small rocks at each other just to get a little splash (actually we were all doing that). Then the next thing you know, Brint picked up this HUGE rock and slammed it near Troy, splashing Troy but dousing me!!! It was still fun. Brint had to all but drag me out of the cool creek on our last day. Can't wait to go again.

The start of Grandpa's garden!

I grew up with my grandpa living with us since I was 11 years old, till I moved out after I got married. There's a couple of things you should know about him...

1. He was a tough Marine who fought in WWII.
2. He worked at MGM studios in Hollywood, as security, and worked with a ton of legendary stars (like John Wayne, and Judy Garland, etc.)
3.He made the best Lasagna and Enchiladas, for being full blood Swedish.
4.He was the best dancer in town.
5. He'd give you the shirt off his back.
AND...
6. He had the greenest thumb on the planet!!

So this year was the year I was going to start off (slowly) a garden like grandpa had. So far we have four types of lettuce, spinach, carrots, green onions, dill, cilantro, blueberries, blackberries, two type of raspberries, and grandpa's two favorites... cucumber and yellow squash. This year we started in planters, or home depot buckets, just to see how we would do. Next year we will do raised beds, just like grandpa had. Here are some pics of what we planted....

These are our yellow squash. This pic was taken three weeks ago, so we have since harvested from these beauties. These were our first yellow flowers, so we knew there was squash-a-comin'!



Next is lettuce. We got this lettuce when we went to the Organic Growers Festival. Thanks Mari for talking me into buying some! They are almost to pretty to eat.


Here is some of our starter buckets before we transplanted them. Back row L to R cucumbers, and cilantro. Front row L to R green onions, spinach, and dill. We always have dill growing in our family garden, since my maiden name is Dills.


We also have a starter sprig of blueberries. It's not much, but it's a happy plant.


So that is our start up garden, I will take the pics of our ever growing cucumbers, and carrots the next time I go out side. I named our garden the "John Andrew Lundberg Victory garden"! Hope we've made him a little proud with what has only just begun.

I like what song??

I never thought for a MILLION years I would like any Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana songs. Then the local radio station played this song about the "Climb". The words were so inspirational, moving, motivating, tear making, heart warming song. At first I thought I was on the Christian station, but nope I was on the local Pop station. Then once the song was done the DJ announced who it was... Miley Cyrus. WHAT!?!?!?!

Holly cow, what planet was I on. Then I went online to read what the words were, and again I wept! So here it is the words, and your listening to the song now too. I hope it moves you, motivates you, make you tear up, warms you heart, or just moves you to do great things!!

The new Chicks on the block...

My friend Crystal at work, yes the one who's Chihuahua we took care of, her mom raises goats and chickens. No we didn't get any goats... yet. But we did get five sweet new "teenage" chicks. They are Golden Laced Wyandotte's, and cute as can be. The markings on their feathers when they grow up will be just beautiful. For now they just have a full body and scrawny little heads.




The Jevnes came and checked out our new little chicks...



Our one chicken, Yolk-O, was not to sure about them, since she had the run of the coup for the past couple of months. She pecked one of the chicks on the head to remind the of who was the top chick around these parts. Naughty chicken... she sure is pretty though!!


So here are some more pics of them running around, they are the fastest chickens I've seen. They love to be held, and they coo like doves in stead of clucking. Sweet!

The GQ man and his glasses...

So Brint FINALLY got his new pair of glasses, after camping out at the mail box for over a week. He went for a whole new style. We shopped around all the cool frame shops till we found the perfect ones. Even had the rep for the ProDesign-Denmark help out. So without further adieu here is the man himself....





So he will kill me for saying this but.... his eyebrow has grown back nicely, don't you think!!
